The Completionist Edit
Though Jirard finds the story convoluted, he finds it appropriate for a Spyro game. He also notes that the visuals look incredibly similar to the first game. Special note is given to Tom Kenny’s voice acting in the game. The level design gives him major Jirard syndrome, but he finds it a leg up from the original. However, it doesn’t always feel satisfying to overcome for him. He also praises the music in the game, composed by drummer Stewart Copeland.
Jirard notes how similar the game is gameplay-wise from the previous game. He appreciates the extension flutter while gliding to help salvage some platforming, but notes it’s not a perfect system. The timed skills also help give the gameplay variety.
Jirard finds completing the game frustrating, as the controls still haven’t been perfected and the game didn’t always perform well. However, as a whole, he does find the game worth completing, and a leg up above the first.
The review ends with a compilation of "Jirard Syndrome" in many games recently reviewed on The Completionist.
