The Completionist[]

Jirard reviewed Sonic Heroes for the 155th episode of The Completionist.

In the beginning of the episode, Jirard advertises his steam series on Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. He also advertises 50 free codes for the game, which will be given out randomly to fans.

Jirard finds the presentation varied and exciting, but it doesn’t always stick the landing. He finds that the visuals feel recycled from the Adventure games. He does appreciate the soundtrack as one of the best parts of the game. The voice acting has some problems, though, as it gets grating and feels unnecessary at times.

Jirard takes note of how unique the gameplay is compared to other 3D Sonic games, though it still keeps series traditions in tact. However, he criticizes the controls as lacking, leading to cheap deaths. He also finds the speed sections to be the most fun, but thinks there should be more of them. Some of the levels also take a long time, to Jirard’s dismay.

Jirard finds that while Super Hard mode is a fun addition to the game, it’s too difficult to unlock and isn’t rewarding.

Overall, Jirard finds that the game is marred by bad game designed, though it does have its moments.
