The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (ゼルダの伝説 時のオカリナ Zeruda no Densetsu: Toki no Okarina?) is a 1998 action-adventure video game developed by Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development division for the Nintendo 64 video game console. It was released in Japan on November 21, 1998; in North America on November 23, 1998; and in Europe on December 11, 1998. The game was released on a 256-megabit (32-megabyte) cartridge, which was the largest-capacity cartridge Nintendo produced at that time. Ocarina of Time is the fifth game in The Legend of Zelda series, and the first with 3D graphics.

The game was originally ported to the GameCube alongside an Ocarina of Time Master Quest (which featured reworked dungeons with new puzzles), and The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition as a direct port.

The CompletionistEdit

As the last day of October's Collaboration Month, on November 1st, 2013, Jirard reviewed Ocarina of Time with PBG, who has been on the show once before.

Ocarina of Time was also apart of the Zelda Collection Pack as the 3rd game played. While the Collection Pack didn't have Master Quest in it, Jirard chose to complete Master Quest anyway.

Jirard compliments the ability to get into the meat of the game in very little time compared to other 3D Zelda games. He also appreciates the diverse and immersive worlds. However, he still clings to calling A Link to the Past to his favorite Zelda, as he played it first, and he feels Ocarina of Time borrows a lot from it. PBG revels in the music.

PBG praises the Z-targeting, though notes it isn't perfect. The two also appreciate how seamless the transition from 2D to 3D was for Zelda. Jirard finds fishing to be a pain, and not particularly worth it. He does like the other sidequests, though. Greg finds the Master Sword in this game useless due to the existence of the Biggoron's Sword. The dungeon designs of Master Quest take Jirard for a loop.

Jirard thinks the game is very fun, but doesn't think the game is worth completing everything in.

Guest AppearancesEdit

TriviaEdit

  • The date of this video's release also tied in with PBG's own Zelda Month, in which he talks about the Zelda series for a month straight.
  • Although released after October, this video was still considered to be apart of October Collaboration Month.
