Deadpool is an antihero action comedy beat 'em up video game based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The game was developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Former Deadpool comic writer Daniel Waycreated the game's plot, andNolan North voiced the character. The game received mixed to positive reviews, with plot elements commonly praised and gameplay elements found lacking.

Deadpool, along with most other games published by Activision that had used the Marvel license, were de-listed and removed from all digital storefronts on January 1, 2014. As of July 15, 2015 the game was made available to purchase again on Steam. The game was re-released on November 18, 2015 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The Completionist[]

Jirard reviewed Deadpool for the 161st episode of The Completionist, and as the second episode of Superhero Month 2016.

Jirard praises the game’s narrative as focusing more on Deadpool himself, rather than following the typical superhero tropes. He’s also fond of the game’s visual presentation. He especially loves the writing and Nolan North’s voice acting. Most of all, he loves how the game frequently breaks the fourth wall. However, he finds the music underwhelming. He’s also saddened by the missed potential with the remaster.

Jirard addresses the complaint that the game is repetitive. He disagrees, noting the choices in combat and difficulty. He also addresses the game’s short length, which doesn’t bother him that much. Overall, he loves the gameplay. However, he points out how rushed and awkwardly the game ends.
