Tekken is a fighting game and is the first of the series. It was released in arcades in late 1994 and on the PlayStation in 1995. It was developed and published by Namco. It is succeeded by Tekken 2, which came out in 1995.

Jirard reviewed Tekken for the 137th episode of The Completionist.
Jirard finds a lot of charm in the character models, despite their age. He's also fond of the characterization and soundtrack. However, some of the presentation is a bit disturbing in hindsight.
Jirard praises the gameplay as being simple yet deep. He also finds the combo system intuitive and addicting, and praises the diversity in characters and tactics.
Jirard loves the unlockable Galaga as a completion bonus, as well as the extra fighters in the game.
