Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is a skating game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision in 2000. It was released on the PlayStation, and subsequently on PC, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, and Xbox.

The Completionist[]

Jirard reviewed the game for the third episode of The Completionist.

By modern standards, Jirard considers the graphics to have aged poorly due to being on Playstation 1. He also claims to have encountered many glitches while playing. But he does give props to the atmosphere and soundtrack.

Praise is given to the variety of the modes that keeps the player busy and gives the game a lot of replay value. He's also quite fond of having Spiderman as an unlockable character for completing the game.

Throughout the episode, Greg makes a hawk noise whenever Jirard says "Hawk," prompting Jirard to substitute the names of other birds for Tony Hawk's name.

Trivia[]

  • The semi-recurring joke of a hawk appearing every time Tony's last name was said started in this episode.
  • Old Man Snitchez also makes his debut in this episode, as the character Jirard makes in the game.
  • This is the first review of a non-Nintendo game, and the first review of a PlayStation game.

New Game Plus[]

Jirard re-reviewed Pro Skater 2 for the sixty-first episode of The Completionist: New Game Plus. This time around, he completes the game properly by beating the career mode with every skater in the game, and finding every gap in the game. Finding these gaps becomes Jirard’s biggest problem with the game, as he feels it goes against the freedom skateboarding as a sport embodies. This causes Jirard to downgrade his score for the game to a Finish It, still noting how fun it is to do tricks and mess with cheat codes.

New Game Plus Trivia[]

  • This episode released after the announcement of the remade Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. Jirard made the decision to stick with the original PS1 version for the re-review as he had already been working on it and streaming it on Twitch at the time. Jirard would later say in a Super Beard Bros. episode that this remake is not really designed to be completed anyway.
  • In contrast with the original review, none of the licensed music from this game is used in this video, which Jirard attributes to wanting to make sure his crew can be paid.
