Mega Man X4, originally released in Japan as Rockman X4 (ロックマンX4), is a video game developed by Capcom. It is the fourth game in the Mega Man X series and the second game in the series to be released on the Sega Saturn and PlayStation. The two versions were released simultaneously in Japan on August 1, 1997. A North America release followed sometime thereafter, while Europe received only the PlayStation version on October 13, 1997.

The Completionist[]

Mega Man X4 was featured on the 41st episode of The Completionist which is Part 2 of the 1-Year anniversary special.

Jirard introduces the episode like the first episode of The Completionist, supposedly forgetting the first 40 episodes and past year. He also initially thinks he's reviewing Mega Man X, instead of Mega Man X4.

Jirard gives special note to the cartoon cutscenes, having mixed feelings about them due to the voice acting. He receives the presentation positively as a whole, but finds the sound effects somewhat jarring. He does comment on how Zero is a playable character in the game, and praises his playability and his different gameplay style. He also seems fond of the new upgrades in this game. Though he finds that Spark Mandrill syndrome is still present for some Mavericks.

By the end of the review portion of the episode, Jirard goes insane from being the Comportionist. In an attempt to bring Jirard back to his senses, Greg brings over Fish, who attempts to use his "Beard Defibrillator" to bring him back, but fails. Ryan also attempted to bring him back without success. Davis steals Jirard's games. Eventually, Greg calls over Alex, who suggests that Greg purposely sucks at Mega Man X4 to bring the universe back to normal and take Jirard out of Beard hibernation. This succeeds, and boots Jirard back to his former glory, minus his beard, and triggering a montage of almost every video Jirard has made in the past. The video ends with the intro that would be used for Season 2 of The Completionist.

Special Guests[]

The review for this game features Alex Faciane from Super Beard Bros. and Fish, Davis and Ryan from The Warp Zone, trying to help a broken Beardman after he has gone into beard hibernation.

Music[]

Two altered versions of The Completionist theme Covers are used in this episode.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode to use the That One Video Gamer intro as opposed to the Normal Boots intro.
  • This is also the first episode to feature the second intro for The Completionist.
  • Davis steals a bunch of video games from Jirard. When Greg points that out to Jirard, Davis cusses him out and then leaves. We never see Davis return those games again.
