The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, known in Japan as Zelda no Densetsu: Kamigami no Triforce 2 (ゼルダの伝説 神々のトライフォース2 Zeruda no Densetsu Kamigami no Toraifōsu Tsū?, lit. "The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of the Gods 2"), is an action-adventure game for Nintendo 3DS and the seventeenth installment in Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series. The game takes place in the same world as the 1992 Super Nintendo Entertainment System title, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, taking place six generations following that game's events. The game was released on November 22, 2013 in North America and Europe, November 23, 2013 in Australia, and December 26, 2013 in Japan. It is the second retail game in the series released on the 3DS, after The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

EpisodeEdit

Released on November 22nd, 2013, Jirard reviewed The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on the same day the game was released. This review was directly caused by Nintendo giving him a copy of the game two weeks earlier to complete the game in time for launch.

Jirard is thoroughly impressed with the graphics. It's one of the first 3DS games he used the 3D for. He gives more heavy praise to the A Link to the Past fanservice the game provides, while keeping itself fresh. His only complaints about the presentation are the lack of detail on character models and laggy transition screens.

Jirard also praises how the gameplay feels familiar yet different in a lot of ways, citing Ravio's shop in particular. He puts a lot of stress on how important rupees are in this game compared to past ones, and praises the increased rupee limit. He also appreciates the stamina meter for item uses. The painting mechanic surprised and impressed Jirard as well. Special attention is given to the freedom to do dungeons in any order, which Jirard loves. One thing he's disappointed with, though, is the easy difficulty of the bosses.

TriviaEdit

  • Jirard said that he hasn't been this excited for a Zelda game since Majora's Mask.
  • Jirard's favorite place in the game is the "Tower of Treachery" in Lorule.
  • Jirard completed the game three times for this review.
  • This is Jirard's first review of a 3DS game, as he had gotten his 3DS capture device a few days prior to releasing the review.
  • Jirard promised a follow-up video on the StreetPass functionality of the game, but has yet to do so.
